School Section Lake Outlet Control Structure

School Section Lake Outlet Control Structure

In response to the high water experienced in the early 1980s, the Clearwater River Watershed District (CRWD) was petitioned by property owners on School Section Lake to create an outlet control structure to help control the water level of School Section Lake. This project was known as "School Section Lake Outlet Control Project #84-1." The outlet structure is permitted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and operation of the outlet follows strict DNR guidelines to protect the waters and properties downstream as well as School Section Lake.

In 2017 the CRWD Board of Managers ordered a new project to provide for the modification of the outlet structure to include a durable ice barrier. Listed below are various information items on the proceedings undertaken by the Board in the ordering of this new project, designated as "School Section Lake Modified Outlet Control Project #17-1."
