​The Lake Augusta Aerator Project pumped oxygen into the hypolimnion (bottom-water) of Lake Augusta. By doing so, the amount of phosphorous released from bottom sediments is greatly reduced, thereby increase the water quality in the lake. The estimated phosphorous load reduction from this project was around 280 per year. This project has been discontinued due to the high costs of running the aerator.
